Default Engineer

So I hadn't seen my Engineer Goby since weds, and started moving rock around looking for him. Well I found him, or should I say what was left. The crabs had a field day skinning him. My god was the smell horrible!!! Had to spend a little time praying to the porcelain god after that!!

Well Sneaky Pete my "One Eyed Party Snake"

RIP Buddy!

So how big of a WC should I do? He was most likely getting gnawed on for a couple days.

That sucks man, I hate when I lose a fish I've had for a long time. Did he finally "dig his own grave"? I was always worried my eel would burrow in the sand and the rock would shift and it would get crushed. I don't think you can be too carefull with the water changes, 30-50% today and then 10-20% if your nitrates are still high tomorrow. Question, what the ORP monitor for? The way you explained it, I thought it would expose a rotting animal.

Like Ranked I would testing to see if its warranted then doing a 20% WC and testing again. With as big as your tank is JP I really dont thing you have an whole lot to worry about.

I'm sorry you lost him... I had that happen with a seahorse... those stupid crabs get to them so fast.. I did a 50% water change just to be safe....

It will when you check the level!!! It was at 468 when I scooped the pieces out last night. Its back to 380 now so I gotta most of the nasty out.

Kinda sad, this was one of my first fish and for over 2 years I have come down and checked my sandbed to make sure he did'nt cover my sandbed frags up. Tonight that was the first thing I did!!! Old habits!

If he was smaller I probably wouldn't have even looked for him, just let the CUC do their job. My worry was he was Like 8" long and as fat (if not fatter) than my thumb. It sucks cuz I have to completely redo my aquascaping now cuz I had to move so much to get all the pieces of him out. I was kinda hasty in looking for him, I forgot where I was pulling rocks from.
